Indian PBX market seems to be still in older technologies like analog EPABXs. Self-hosted PBX systems are still very much prevalent in India. I think it is majorly due to lack of information about hosted PBX systems as well as absence of any hosted PBX provider. Here are few PBX systems which are still widely used in India:-

1. 16 port Analog PABX
This is an entry level PBX system widely used in small offices home office. Many house holds also uses this kind of PBX systems. There are many PBX manufacturer who manufacture this kind of EPABX systems. Matrix, Coral, BPL etc. are few companies who are involved in manufacturing and marketing directly through their dealer network in India.

2. 72-128 PORT PBX system with one or two PRI Systems
This is entry level PBX systems for many hotels and mid sized industrial unites. Most probably, this has the most competition among many PBX manufacturer in India. Foreign companies like AVAYA, Siemens, Tadiran etc. are also in the market with their products, and competition is really high here. Indian railways, PSU ( Public Sector Unit), various government agencies, departments are major users of this kind of PB systems. Many telecom service providers too use this kind of PBX systems for providing VPN ( Virtual Private Networking) and other voice products to telephone users. Many call centers too use this kind of PBX systems.

3. 256 PORT and above
These are high end systems with latest technologies and many features. Large corporations, headquarters of PSU, land line telecom providers are the main users of these kind of PBX systems. This kind of PBX systems are equipped with state of art technologies, features and have SS7, ISDN PRI etc.. connectivity for integrating with many other telecom network. Almost all major telecom exchange manufacturers are competing each other for this market segment. Panasonic, Coral, ITI, NEC, Siemens, Erickson, Nokia etc. all are present in India.
