PABX FAQ
Some FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) about PABX or PBX :-
1. What is PBX ?
PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange. Think of PBX as telephone network, smaller in number of users, poorer in features, smaller in area of operation ( typically inside one office premises only). But recently, with hosted PBX and IP PBX, these definition is getting increasingly outdated.
2. Who should use PBX ?
Actually, everyone uses PBX. The big public telephone network is nothing but a big PBX with big capacity and national as well as international connectivity.
3. What is Least Cost Routing ?
It is an intelligent routing of calls from PABX extension lines through PABX trunk lines to reduce cost of making outgoing calls. Normally, call from same network costs less, so PABX system decides which trunk line to use for making outgoing call depending upon the number dialed from the extension line. For example, if BSNL mobile number is dialed from an extension of EPABX, it would route the call through a trunk which has connectivity with BSNL Mobile SIM rather than any land line trunk. This reduces the cost of making outgoing call.
